[Listen, is she to be judged for eventually coming around to using a spell Harry found in Snape's childhood book? No.]
Not directly from the man who created it, but he left his book behind at Hogwarts. My friend used it in class, because he's a little cheater skating by on charm and luck.
[She is still BITTER about Harry doing better at school than her after SIX YEARS of proofreading his essays.]
[ Hearing about this is a bit of an emotional gut-punch - as most things about Sev are. It's difficult not to ask after him, that she doesn't expect good news stops her. ]
The cheek of it. I told Sev not to doodle in that book.
The interesting thing about it is that if you weave it into wards, you muffle the sound of an entire area to those outside the wards.
[There is a small pause here, because this part is... Gods, there are so many things that are hard to say. So many things she cannot say, to Lily Evans.]
[ Bless you Hermione for distracting her from the seemingly bottomless well of concern she secretly maintains for her old estranged bestie. ]
Our wards aren't as effective here. I think it's because they're meant for magic like ours as opposed to the powers in play in this place. Protego totalum on a door buys you a few minutes, things bounce off it at first but eventually the ward breaks.
A fair assessment. He's meant to be our patron but that he's been able to negotiate with a pair of undead overlords makes me question what he is and what he's about heavily.
Hermione I can't tell you just how nice it is to have someone from home to talk to.

It felt like that - like the magic was weird in this place, wilder somehow. What if you cast it over and over?

After all the time spent in the cage, it's a relief to know that someone here will understand me when I'm talking about spells, charms and hexes!
